Reminder:
Tramadol Placed in Schedule IV – Effective Today
As stated in the current issue of the APA Legislative Newsletter, effective today all prescription products containing the active ingredient tramadol become a Schedule IV controlled substance. Under Arkansas law, all tramadol products will now be treated like all other Schedule IV medications.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration Pharmacist’s Manual, “When a drug not previously controlled is scheduled, the drug must be inventoried as of the effective date of scheduling.” This is also addressed in the Code of Federal Regulations 21 CFR §1304.11 Inventory Requirements.
Immunizations for Patients 22 Years of Age and Under Must Be Reported to Arkansas Division of Health
The Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Health has asked APA to make pharmacists aware of an Arkansas state law that requires reporting of administration of all immunizations given to people 22 years of age and younger to the Division of Health. Immunizing pharmacists should call the Immunization Section of the Division of Health at 1-501-661-2720 for additional information about their online immunization registry.
