President Bush Signs Law Delaying

Tamper-Proof Prescription Implementation

Last week the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate voted to delay the implementation of the tamper-proof prescription pad requirement for Medicaid prescriptions.  President Bush signed the bill into law on Saturday, September 29.  While the law does not eliminate the tamper-proof requirement for Medicaid prescriptions, it does delay the implementation of the tamper-proof requirements until March 31, 2008

APA would like to thank all of Arkansas’ Congressional Delegation (Rep. Berry, Rep. Boozman, Rep. Ross, Rep. Snyder, Sen. Lincoln, and Sen. Pryor).  In addition, we would like to provide additional thanks to Representatives Berry and Ross, who along with Representative Charlie Wilson (D-OH), helped to guide this measure through the legislative process.

Please note, that even though we have received a six month reprieve on the implementation of the tamper-proof requirements, you should continue to encourage your physicians and other prescribers to pursue obtaining these prescription pads as soon as possible.
