Our AARP caseworker followed up on
a situation a couple of you brought to our attention.
AARP recently sent out over 40,000
incorrect "Explanation of Benefits" (EOB) to beneficiaries explaining they
have a gap in coverage and a $250 deductible. The problem is that these
letters went to beneficiaries that receive some sort of extra help and do not
have a gap or a deductible. CMS Central Office is aware of the problem and
stated new letters will be going out to the beneficiaries soon. If any of
your patients are confused or concerned you can relay this information or have
them call the AARP customer service line 1-888-556-7060 and verify their
account. This only affects those beneficiaries receiving extra help.
