Full Time Hospice Pharmacist Needed

Classification: Exempt (salaried)

Status: Full time
Responsibilities: Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day hospice pharmacy services, facilitating safe, effective and economic use of drugs including compounding and dispensing medication and other pharmaceutical supplies, coordinating pharmacy operations with staff and contracted pharmacists. Review prescriptions, obtain clarifications as necessary and regularly consult with medical staff, nursing personnel and others to coordinate delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services to hospice patients. Serves as a resource to the hospice inter-disciplinary teams to ensure appropriate utilization of pharmaceuticals for effective symptom management. Conduct retrospective chart reviews as part of the agency’s ongoing QAPI program.
Requirements: B.S in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited pharmacy school, college or university. Arkansas Pharmacist license. Prior experience in a healthcare organization, preferably a leadership position in a hospice. Knowledge of current theory and practice of pharmacy services. Skill in preparing intravenous admixture solutions, as needed. Sill in data analysis and interpretation, problem assessment and resolution, ability to collaborate well with others. Excellent computer skills.

Staff/Clinical Pharmacist Position
Full time staff/clinical pharmacist position is available at the Mercy Medical Center. The newly constructed Mercy Medical Center is the flagship facility in the Mercy Health System of Northwest Arkansas. The pharmacy medication distribution system is fully automated. The technology includes an APRS or “carousel” system and an Omnicell Secure Vault for medication inventory in the central pharmacy. Multiple Omnicell Medication Stations are placed on each inpatient and outpatient care areas of the hospital.
A comprehensive automated computer system provides computer physician order entry (CPOE) and bedside barcode scanning of medications. CPOE enables the pharmacist to focus on order verification rather than order entry. This provides the pharmacist with increased time for clinical activities.
Staff pharmacists are provided with the opportunity to develop and enhance their clinical skills. This training enables them to advance on the Pharmacy Career Ladder. Candidate must be a licensed pharmacist in Arkansas. Hospital experience is preferred, but not required.
